Creating a Project in GUIDE (requires Premium Version)

The steps below create a basic 2-screen Project with an encoder-controlled value on each screen. The intent of this section is just to get a newly created Project file onto a Touch Encoder (TE). See the extra resources here for in-depth information about all the tools available.

  1. Open GUIDE

  2. Click "Create New"

  3. Enter a Project name

    • In this example, "test1" was used

  4. Click "Next"

  5. Click "+Starting Screen"

  6. Click "Empty"

  7. Click the arrow next to Visual Elements to expand the menu, only "Background" will be in the list

  8. Click on "Background"

  9. In the right-hand toolbar, scroll down until the "Image" tool is visible

  10. Click on the gray checkerboard image

  11. Click on "Background" and select the 4th image from the left

  12. Click the "+" sign next to Visual Elements

  13. Click on "Numeric Value"

  14. Click on the "+" sign next to Screens at the top of the left-hand toolbar

  15. Click on Ring&Gauge

  16. Scroll down to and select Gauge 7

  17. Set "Home Button action" to "Go to home"

  18. Click on "Screen 1"

  19. Click on the dotted circle to the left of the image

  20. Set "Action" to "Move to"

  21. Click "Select Screen"

  22. Select "Screen 2" from the menu

  23. Click "Save", then "Ok"

In this basic Project Screen 1 was created from scratch and has a single Numerical Value controlled by the encoder. By rotating the encoder the center value will increase or decrease between 0 and 100 in increments of 1. Swiping left (→) will transition to Screen 2 where a similar screen was created, with the addition of a ring gauge, from a standard template. Rotating the knob will increase or decrease the value and ring gauge between 0 and 100 in increments of 1. Pressing the Home button (trapezoid shape) on the front lens will transition to Screen 1.

Uploading to a Touch Encoder (TE)

These instructions below assume the TE is already connected to the Host PC correctly for CAN or USB and is powered on.

  1. Click "Upload" in the upper right-hand corner

  2. Wait until the Upload is complete

    • If a "Fail to Set TE in Programming Mode appears", click ok, check the hardware setup, and try again

  3. When the "Done updating device" window appears, click "OK"

  4. Re-boot the TE into Run mode, if needed

  5. The TE is now running the newly made Project file
